Bursaspor head coach Mustafa Er has praised Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho for his outstanding performances since joining the Turkish club, with the forward playing a key role in the team’s promotion push.

Iheanacho joined the Green Crocodiles on a free transfer during the summer and has made an immediate impact in the league. The 30-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided two assists in nine league appearances, establishing himself as an influential figure in Bursaspor’s campaign.

His impressive return has strengthened the club’s attacking options as they pursue promotion. Iheanacho’s ability to find the net consistently has also justified the effort Bursaspor made to secure his signature ahead of the new season.

Er said the striker had delivered the kind of contribution the club expected when it completed the transfer. The Bursaspor manager also acknowledged the role played by the club’s management in bringing the Nigeria international to the team.

“We transferred Iheanacho so that he would score goals. We worked very hard for that transfer. We also need to thank our management,” Er was quoted by the club’s official website.

The coach revealed that Bursaspor faced competition for Iheanacho’s signature, adding that the stature of the club played an important role in the forward’s decision to join.

“There was a lot of demand for him. The size of the club was also very important in his choosing us. We are getting the contribution we want.”

Iheanacho’s early-season form has made him a major attacking asset for Bursaspor, with his goals and assists contributing to the club’s efforts to secure promotion. His performances have also demonstrated the value of the summer move, with the striker quickly adapting to his new surroundings.

The former Nigeria international will now look to maintain his scoring form as the Turkish side continues its promotion campaign. Bursaspor will hope he can sustain his influence in front of goal throughout the season and help the club achieve its target.
