Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially rejoined South African Premier Division side Chippa United, bringing an end to months of uncertainty surrounding his club future.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper returns to the Chilli Boys five months after parting ways with the club by mutual agreement in February, when he was widely expected to secure a move elsewhere. However, with a transfer failing to materialise, Nwabali has opted for a return to the Eastern Cape as he looks to revive both his club career and international ambitions.
Chippa United confirmed the Nigerian international's return in an official statement, welcoming the experienced shot-stopper back ahead of preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back to the Chilli Boys. After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club. His experience, leadership and presence will once again be a valuable addition to the squad.
Nwabali first joined Chippa United in 2022 after spells with Go Round FC, Enyimba, Lobi Stars and Katsina United in Nigeria. During his initial stint in South Africa, he established himself as one of the Premier Soccer League's most reliable goalkeepers before earning widespread recognition for his performances with Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles reached the final.
His departure from Chippa United earlier this year came amid expectations of a move to Europe or another top-flight club. Despite links with several teams, no transfer was completed, leaving the goalkeeper without competitive football for several months.
The return offers Nwabali an opportunity to regain regular playing time ahead of a crucial season for both club and country. With the Super Eagles expected to compete in major international fixtures over the coming months, consistent performances at club level will be vital as he looks to retain his place as Nigeria's first-choice goalkeeper.

For Chippa United, re-signing one of their former standout performers adds valuable experience and leadership to the squad as the club prepares for the new South African Premiership campaign.
Nwabali will now be aiming to pick up where he left off, helping the Chilli Boys build on last season while reaffirming his status as one of Africa's top goalkeepers.
