Former Turkish striker Ahmet Dursun has criticised Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, describing the Nigerian international as selfish while declaring Dušan Vlahović the best striker in the Turkish Super Lig.
Dursun made the remarks while comparing the two forwards, arguing that Vlahović offers more to his team than Osimhen. His comments have put the Galatasaray attacker under scrutiny despite his goalscoring contributions in the ongoing league campaign.
Speaking as quoted by Tivibu Spor, Dursun said he considered Vlahović comfortably ahead of other strikers in the competition.
"In my opinion, Vlahović is by far the league's best striker," Dursun said.
The former striker then turned his attention to Osimhen, accusing the Super Eagles star of prioritising his own interests over the collective needs of Galatasaray.
"Osimhen is so selfish, a player who plays for himself. He's starting to harm both himself and his team. Every midfielder would want to play with Vlahović."
Dursun's assessment centres on what he perceives as a difference in the forwards' approach to team play. While he praised Vlahović's qualities and suggested that midfielders would welcome the opportunity to play alongside him, he questioned whether Osimhen's style of play benefits Galatasaray as much as it should.
The comments represent a strong criticism of Osimhen, who has become an important attacking figure for the Istanbul club. Dursun's remarks suggest that, in his view, individual attacking ambition can become a disadvantage if it comes at the expense of the team's overall performance.
However, the criticism comes at a time when Osimhen and Vlahović have recorded identical goalscoring figures in the Turkish Super Lig this season. Both forwards have scored six goals for their respective clubs, leaving them level in terms of league goals at this stage of the campaign.
That statistic provides a clear point of comparison between the two players, although Dursun's preference for Vlahović appears to extend beyond the number of goals scored. His comments focus on his perception of the Serbian forward's contribution to team play and his suitability as a partner for midfielders.
Osimhen, known for his attacking presence and ability to lead the line, will continue to be assessed on his performances as Galatasaray pursue their objectives this season. His goalscoring output remains a key measure of his contribution, while questions about his decision-making and involvement in team play are matters that critics may continue to debate.
For Vlahović, Dursun's praise represents a strong endorsement of his standing among strikers in the Turkish top flight. The former Turkish international believes the forward is the competition's outstanding attacker and has used the comparison with Osimhen to reinforce that view.
With both players currently on six league goals, their performances over the coming weeks could provide further material for the debate. For now, Dursun has made his position clear, backing Vlahović as the league's best striker while accusing Osimhen of being too individualistic in his approach.
