Former Remo Stars striker Sikiru Alimi is reportedly close to returning to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with Kano Pillars emerging as his potential destination.
The experienced forward was recently spotted training with Kano Pillars amid discussions over a possible transfer to the four-time Nigerian league champions.
Although a deal has yet to be officially confirmed, Alimi's presence at the club has fuelled speculation that he could soon begin a new chapter in Nigerian football.
The 30-year-old left Remo Stars in August 2025 to join Algerian side JS Saoura after an impressive spell with the Ikenne-based club.
Alimi made a significant contribution during his time at Remo Stars, scoring 28 goals before moving abroad. His record in front of goal could make him a valuable addition to Kano Pillars' attacking department if the proposed switch is completed.
The forward's potential arrival would provide the Kano-based club with another option in attack as they seek to strengthen their squad for the ongoing campaign.
Alimi is also familiar with Kano Pillars' technical adviser, Daniel Ogunmodede, having worked under him during his time at Remo Stars. That previous working relationship could prove useful if the striker completes his move to the Sai Masu Gida.
For Kano Pillars, securing the services of a forward with Alimi's experience and previous record in the NPFL could offer an additional attacking threat. His familiarity with Nigerian football may also help him settle quickly should the transfer materialise.
However, the proposed move remains subject to confirmation, with no official announcement of an agreement between the player and the club at the time of reporting.
Alimi's possible return would mark his comeback to the Nigerian top flight after his spell in Algeria, where he joined JS Saoura following his departure from Remo Stars.
Attention will now be on whether Kano Pillars can conclude the move and officially welcome the striker back to the NPFL.
