Club Africain’s impressive 26-match unbeaten run came to a shocking end after the Tunisian giants suffered a 2–1 defeat away to US Ben Guerdane in the Tunisian Ligue 1. The unexpected loss was a major setback for the Red and Whites, who had gone more than a year without defeat during their remarkable sequence.
The hosts struck first through Daniel Oboh before Oussama Cherimi restored parity for Club Africain. However, Wael Salhi delivered the decisive blow in stoppage time, securing a memorable victory for Ben Guerdane and bringing the visitors’ lengthy unbeaten streak to an abrupt end.
The result also puts South African giants Orlando Pirates at the forefront of Africa’s active unbeaten-run rankings, with the Buccaneers currently on a 20-match league streak without defeat. The Sea Robbers’ run dates back to February 2026, when they suffered a 2–1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Since that defeat, the Soweto side have built a sustained run of positive results, combining victories with hard-fought draws to remain unbeaten in league action. Their consistency has now taken on added significance following Club Africain’s unexpected collapse in Tunisia.
